This post pertains to the new business, gas station and convenience store, to be built on the south side corner of Kuykendahl Road and Cypress Hill Drive.
Two meetings were held in June, and those attending were the owner, his architect, Peggy Batson, Bill Papp and Jane Warren. We met with them as interested and concerned residents and not in any official capacity. We discussed ways to preserve as many of the trees as possible along Cypress Hill Drive in an effort to maintain the current visual aesthetics as well as providing the residents with a buffer between their homes and the new business.
It was agreed initially clearing of the land will begin 25 feet from the curb at Cypress Hill and continue south to his property line. After that takes place, the remaining uncleared area will then be reevaluated in an effort to preserve as many trees and surrounding wooded area as possible – with the final border (buffer) being no less than 18 feet from the curb at Cypress Hill.
We were encouraged he wanted to meet and discuss how best to be a good neighbor, but the bottom line is, it is his property, and he has the final word on the layout and design of his business.
