I recently attended a seminar hosted by the Greater Houston Neighborhood Association, where Harris County Constable, Lt. David Escobar discussed safety and security issues currently facing many neighborhoods. I had the opportunity to speak with him directly and wanted to pass along some of the important information and advice he was able to provide.
There has been a lot of discussion regarding the recent vandalism and dumping taking place at the vacant Kelsey Seybold Medical Clinic. Those two issues, along with the ongoing problem of teenagers using the parking lot as a hangout, is of obvious concern for all residents of Cypresswood Place. Other than repairmen and/or maintenance workers, no one should be around the building or in the parking lot. Therefore, should you see any illegal activities, call 911 immediately. If the situation is not an emergency, call the dispatch ASAP 281-376-3472, use key words such as “suspicious or unusual behaviour” (if applicable) or “ongoing problem” and they will send someone out to investigate. In addition, contact has been made with the Senior Manager in charge of the property and she is working with us in an effort to remedy the current problems as well as finding solutions to prevent these issues from continuing to occur.
As a reminder … should you have overnight guests who need to park a vehicle on the street, please ensure a resident hang tag is placed on the rear view mirror so the vehicle can be identified.
This is a very useful website: www.cd4.hctx.net. It is dedicated to those of us living in Precinct 4 and provides a lot of very useful information. You will also discover tips and tools available to help keep your home and our neighborhood safe.
Feel free to contact me or one of the board members should you need further information and/or assistance.
